DJ Gallie: Yes, at times.

DL Gallie: My husband is my everything we have been together since the young age of sixteen, and although we tend to drive each other crazy at times, we couldn’t imagine our lives without one another.

DL Gallie: Well it was quite close actually, one day I just picked up a pen and started writing, and now the voices in my head won’t shut up.

“There are few artists that have the ability to capture my attention due to the lack of passion behind their music and their driving force for life itself. I was surprised when I was approached by Mz. Dyzihre on a popular site which goes by the name of FIYA ( http://fiyaplatform.com ) where you review music by up and coming artist’s. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy Mz. Dyzihre’s music I also noticed something in her that shined brighter that others that have tried to get my attention. After further conversations I got to know quite an impressive person with an amazing positive outlook on life. She inspired me with her business sense and her unbelievable talents that she refers to as “Gifts” her go getter mentality was something that I myself live by and admire greatly when I meet people with that same gumption. Mz. Dyzihre isn’t just an incredible hip hop artist with a beautiful big smile, she is so much more… – Fancy J London”

Katie Mettner – Author & Inspiration

Author-Award Winning Blogger FancyJLondon©2018 (All Right Reserved)

This feature bio represents the author Katie Mettner all content belongs to Featured Stars on behalf of Katie Mettner. Author/Editor: FancyJ London

This is the story of an incredibly talented woman who found her passion amidst trials and remained a beautiful person. I am proud to have had the chance to get to know her and I think you will feel the same after you get to know Katie and her love of Sugar.

Katie Mettner was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on June 14th, 1975 as the second child, but within a few years quickly became the middle child. She’s a mixture of English, German, and French Canadian, but pretty much only claims the French Canadian part. As a middle child, Katie learned patience at an early age. Her two favorite things were dolls and books, often times reading books to the dolls while playing pretend in the basement on the hot summer days. She cherished the time she spent with her dad walking or biking to and from the local library where they searched out new lands to visit. As she grew, she discovered her love for watching the NBC soaps. It was a running joke that she could write them, when she’d say the line or predict the plot twist before it happened. When she broke her leg in 1989 she had plenty of time to read, and discovered great authors like Mary Higgins Clark, and read every Harlequin romantic suspense written.

Writing was something Katie enjoyed doing in elementary school when her fourth grade teacher handed everyone a blank white journal and assigned a new journal entry every week. In sixth grade, her love for writing continued when she wrote, and performed, a newscast about Ireland. It’s fair to say her love of writing continued into her later years of schooling. While she loved to write, as Saturday’s child she knew she would work hard for a living, and after high school worked cleaning houses and running a daycare. After a move from central Wisconsin to Northern Wisconsin, she found a new love, her husband. With birthdays only a day apart, they were meant to be. They met at Thanksgiving 1999, engaged in January, married in April, and had their first baby the following February. In the blink of an eye she was the mom of three kids under three, and there wasn’t much time for writing between diaper changes and typing medical reports from home. Characters came and went through her mind during those years, but only one of them stayed with her, Sugar.

When Katie was thirty-five an old injury from the bunny hill where she first went skiing came back to haunt her. After years of walking with crutches, casts, braces, and then forced into a wheelchair, she had to make a change. Out of medical options, she made the decision and became a left below knee amputee in February 2011. It was then she found time to finally write Sugar’s story. Feeling ridiculous, she made sure no one else knew she was this into writing a book about an amputee dancer who lived on Lake Superior, and fell in love with an Irish guy. See any parallels? There were plenty, but she remembered they always said, write what you know, so she did. As winter turned to spring and summer she finished the first few drafts of the story, which weighed in at a hefty four hundred pages. She didn’t care what genre it was or if people would even like it, she had just found joy in writing it as she recovered and found a new way to walk.

Unsure what to even do with it once it was done, she did an internet search to see if there was somewhere she could get it printed and give a copy to some family members. When Google hit on KDP and indie publishing it was like a whole new world opened up. A world she didn’t understand in the least nor was sure she wanted to! She was so obtuse it never crossed her mind if she published it on the kindle platform more than just her family might read it!

That book, Sugar’s Dance, was seven years and thirty-two books ago. After Sugar found success with readers all over the world, and they wanted more, Katie thought it was wise to learn more about self-publishing and everything that goes with it from editing to covers to promoting. She joined a local author group where she was warmly welcomed, even though she was the only romance author, and learned a ton right off the bat from them. As the second and then the third Sugar book released, other characters began to speak to her. She’s now written thirty-two books in nine romance or romantic suspense series, several stand alone romances, and two LGBT romances. All of her characters are real people and most of them have a physical disability that puts them at a disadvantage to finding love, at least in their eyes. She has several more books planned for three of those series, but also has the first baby bird leaving the nest this summer for college, so she’s not thinking too far ahead.

“When I hit the publish button on Sugar’s Dance I had NO idea there would ever be a second book, much less a thirty second. I was so thrilled on Halloween day when Sugar came out because I felt like I’d finally gotten that one book out of me they told me I had. There was no greater feeling than having accomplished a feat I’d been thinking and dreaming about half my life. it was truly a high I still experience on every release day, but what makes me the happiest is seeing one of my books on the shelf in the library.”

What does you like to do when you aren’t writing?

Katie: “I’m pretty much always writing, if not on paper then in my head. During the times when I’m not writing it down, I’m usually lying in bed with insomnia. Kidding, of course. Actually, I’m an active band mom to my 3 E’s, Emily (Sax, piano, and voice), Edward (Bassoon), and Eli (Sax) and when I’m not running them to marching band and pep band, I’m usually at home listening to one of them practice! I enjoy crocheting sweaters for our pet leopard gecko, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, visiting our family in Duluth, Minnesota, crocheting, baking and of course, reading. As a Gemini I’m relaxed and easy going, and since I married another Gemini, our house is pretty chill. My dream would be to live on the shores of Lake Superior and stare out over the lake every day as I drink coffee and write more stories about the wonderful mysteries the lake holds.”

“Being an author is easy, but being a writer is the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. There is a difference after all. Being an author is about the face you show the world after you’ve published a book; smiling, happy, chatting about your muse, and basking in the sunshine of success. Being a writer is about the endless cups of coffees, deleted paragraphs, living in coffee stained pajamas, not combing your hair for a week, forgetting how to spell, wondering if that’s you who smells, eating frozen pizzas three nights a week, wondering why you suck so much, hating every word you write, certain no one will ever like this character who is so broken kind of profession. The two are intertwined, but distinct. More importantly, you can’t be an author without doing the hard work of being a writer first. I could give up being an author as long as no one ever forces me to stop being a writer.”

What it really takes!

This blog post was written by Fancy J London and also featured on beBee.com and LinkedIn for more from this Author hit Subscribe to follow this blog.

WHAT IT REALLY TAKES!

Being in the music industry isn’t easy, not that it should be considering how many artists are out there wanting fame nowadays. Several people have come to me over the years asking me to “HOOK THEM UP” make them famous, when they often do not have any music, vocal coaching, social presence or a website. Creating music is only a smidgen of what it really takes to be an artist, and without the proper support behind you, well… to put it blatantly your screwed!

Most hopefuls record over a beat that still has tags on it saying; “Purchase your beats today.” as they sing over the tags hoping for a record label to notice their talented vocal skills. I am well aware that beats are costly for beginners and leasing contracts can be very expensive especially if you want exclusive rights. I know all about this subject since I too have dabbled in purchasing beats here and there. I would never advise a new artist to sing over an unpurchased beat and upload or send that recording to a label, radio station or post it on a music platform such as SoundCloud, Reverberation, Bandcamp, or YouTube. Doing this could jeopardize your dream of becoming the next pop star because your reputation is at stake especially if the beat was illegally downloaded. ⚠️

WHAT IT REALLY TAKES, is vocal training, courses in music composition, writing / poetry, renting or buying studio equipment for high quality recordings, learning to play an instrument, finding a producer to master your songs, creating social presence… I could go on forever, but my point is, you will not get noticed overnight without proper training and the realization that thousands upon thousands of hopefuls just like you, are out there fighting for your spot.

How to do it all as an independent artist without a record label, without support, starting from the beginning…(WARNING: YOU WILL NOT SLEEP, YOU MIGHT EAT ONCE A DAY, AND YOU COULD GO A LITTLE CRAZY!)

Take Vocal Lessons.

Learning how to sing on tune for some can be a challenge. A coach can help you find your correct tone and get you on the right pitch. There are many older people who coach and charge very little per hour or you could go to Berkeley College if you have the dough.

Join online singing apps such as:

Smule, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smule.singandroid

Musical.ly, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zhiliaoapp.musically

Bandlab, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bandlab.bandlab

The Voice, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.starmakerinteractive.thevoice

Or any other you prefer to download from the app store on IOS or Android. Singing on an app can help you learn how to strengthen your vocals as well as opening you up to a wide range of genre’s. You can create your own songs or sing with others. Practice makes pitch perfect.

Sing with your gut!

A lot of singers sing without passion, they monotone their voice in a repetative steady note that rarely fluctuates. Making the song seem flat, boring, and without feeling. You know you are singing correctly when the words come out of your gut and you feel Goosebumps all over your skin as you hold back swelling pools from behind your eyeballs. Now you are feeling the song. Whether it be a joyful song, or a sad song, either way you will feel the emotion of hitting those notes with passion. Make the audience tingle in their seats!

Take Writing and Poetry Course’s

Learn how to express your most deepest parts of you through pen onto paper, then rhyme it! Here’s an example:

REGULAR: “I like candy! I eat it a lot, sometimes to much and it gives me a tooth ache.”

POETRY: “Melt in my mouth like lemon drops, sweet candy kisses got me seeing spots. Eat ém up til I see the Doc, cause I broke my tooth on these candy rocks.”

Writing lyrics can be fun, but try not to get out of hand writing too much can be hard to remember. The reason why lyrics are repetitive in most songs is so that the artist can remember their Lyrics easily as well as their audience.

Start Creating Social Presence:

ATTENCION: THIS IS INCREDIBLY TIME CONSUMING. Many hopefuls open accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. Expecting people to follow them right away. The also expect to receive lots of likes, attention, reposts, and encounter friendly people in Facebook groups. Without putting in much effort. What they end up finding out is, that isn’t what happens at all! Finding friends might be easy if you have them in real life and refer them to your page, but making new friends can be a struggle. This is what I call “fair-weather” friends. People who friend you then unfriend for no reason, people who ask you to like their page, but somehow missed your page. People who block you from sharing your music in their Facebook groups, but add you to groups without your permission. Then you get a notice from Facebook telling you, you can boost your post to reach more fans by paying. You end up getting fake likes from strange spam accounts, not to mention all those inappropriate messages in your inbox by people from random countries you never heard of. After all of that you check your accounts at the end of the day to find you have no activity! The secret is, you must be ACTIVE! By active I mean posting catchy gifs, music video clips, selfies, quotes, colorful creative artistic photograghs and live streams. You must interact with your followers and people who like your posts, but might not necessarily follow you. You can do this for each person who likes your picture, by going and liking one of theirs. If someone comments, like their comment and try to reply. Send story’s to a few followers with your music links and a nice short message. Saying; “Hey there, how was your day  today, mine is better now that I saw you here.” The more you care, the more your followers will care. Upload video messages to fans, friends or loved one’s. Share some of your personal life  it is a great way to interact with your closest friends and people who really care about you. You should post an average of 3 times a day with 1-3 story posts on Instagram. On Facebook I recommend posting more personally or sharing your posts from other platforms to make it easier. As for Twitter it is a very fast paced site. I suggest posting a minimum of 25-30 posts a day make sure you vary your posts with gifs, quotes, polls, jokes, links, current events, opinions, and news. Check for trending hashtags to tweet daily. Last but not least YouTube, on here less is more! It is better to post one very well made lyric video or music video than several five minute or less sloppy boring videos. Post one good one and share the link on all of your social sites. Make sure you post and hashtag your stage name on Google+ and Tumblr as well. These apps are frequented by many celebrities and are searchable on Google.

Create your Press kit and Bio

A press kit will open doors for you in the music industry, without it you are not considered to be ready for a record label. If you want to be signed you need to do all the prep-work beforehand.

Here is the information on how you can make your press kit. https://m.wikihow.com/Make-a-Band-Press-Kit

Your biography is extremely important not only for your press kit, but for preparing for features. As your popularity grows with time and you already have music, blogs and news outlets are going to offer you features on their sites. This will increase your chances of getting signed as well as helping you receive more followers on your social sites and may get you that extremely sought after blue verification badge. Writing your biography can be tricky, you can’t write as yourself you must write as a third person or as a narrative. You need to express to the reader how you started on your journey to fame, experiences, failures, success, and hopes for the future. Who you admire, what charities you hope to help, your  personality, why you chose music, your views on other artists, and most important portray the real genuine raw you!

Make your Website

Lastly create an impressive website with your personal domain, add an eye catching banner, your full bio, attach mp3 music files, connect all social accounts, add your shop merchandise, YouTube videos, photograghs, PayPal donation box, and charities you support. Having a professional looking website will help you gain the respect of record labels, producers, managers, and fans.

You are in control of your own destiny!

If you want to make it in the music business, know this… Everything costs money, no one will give you something for nothing, you can not become successful without getting up, if you want free beats, free promo, free music, free features, free management, and free studio time, you will get what you pay for, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! The next time you get mad at a person for not giving you a cheap price, not offering freebies, or discounts you need to remember this!

EVERYONE WHO SPENDS TIME ON YOU, DESERVES THEIR MONEY!

If you short change someone they will remember you in the future and if they are a person of influence you may lose any opportunity that you might have had due to your lack of professionalism. It all boils down to how much you are willing to pay, how much you are willing to work for it and how far you are willing to go. Success is all up to you.

Until next time… fight for your dreams!

Featured Author *Cindy Charity

Author-Award Winning Blogger FancyJLondon©2016 (All Right Reserved)

This feature bio represents the author Cindy Charity all content belongs to Featured Stars on behalf of Cindy Charity. Author/Editor: FancyJ London

Featured Author Cindy Charity approached me on Facebook after I posted about an offer to feature one artist on my blog as a way to help them get noticed. Several people came forward surprisingly more that I initially thought. After reading several entries I fell upon her name in the comments and looked her up. I was intrigued by her writing style and the sincerity of her profile. She struck me with something I couldn’t quite explain but I knew she was the one I wanted to feature. I am extremely happy that I did!

Without further delay I introduce the very talented, hardworking, sassy, Pisces that is CINDY CHARITY…

Cindy Charity was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the third of six children. Cindy has always been a storyteller. Her mother Irish, and her father bi-racial (Black, Native Canadian, French Canadian as well) so it is of no surprise that her story telling came naturally. Growing up in a large family can be hard and at times one must find creative ways to get the attention deserved so, Cindy would tell stories and good stories at that. She would invent stories using situations, scenarios, or events around her.

Cindy began writing in her younger years her mother, as all mothers tend to do, saved everything! She rarely envisioned herself as becoming an author. Cindy had her mind set to be a lawyer. She ended up following in her mother’s footsteps, pursuing a career working with children where she earned her degree.

Several years later Cindy married and was blessed with children. When her eldest daughter was born, she and her family decided to move to a small town named Deep River, located in Ontario where her husband was raised. This is where Cindy Charity began to write. She wrote constantly. It was at that moment she knew in her gut she was going to be an author, but she decided not to share this epiphany with anyone, not just yet.

Cindy was a avid reader, she read everything she could get her hands. She soon discovered a new found love for Romance Novels. Her eldest sister would sneak Harlequin romance series to her and she was instantly hooked. Her tastes continuously changed over the years, but she remained intrigued with Contemporary as well as Paranormal Romance stories. She felt it showcased both sides of her intertwined personality.

Cindy Charity finally made the decision to become a serious a author, thinking it would be as simple as that to just declare that she was an author! Well, it wasn’t so easy. She continued to hide her secret, that way if she failed no one would know. Research became her next step towards her goal of becoming a published author.
It was within her grasp about a year after her secret declaration. She found a small press that was willing to take a chance on an unknown inspiring author. There was a lot of back and forth of information and then the dreaded contract. Unfortunately it didn’t work out, and Cindy was heavily devastated. She decided to take a break and go back to her childcare business concentrating on her family.

“Artists, yes!” she thought to herself: “I do see myself as an artist, you can only go so long before you feel the urge to create again, it consumes you.” Cindy took the plunge yet again and started to write. But this time, she wrote for her and not for the pursuit of publication. She had put the thought of seeing her books in print on the back burner, Cindy still kept her eye on the publishing world.

Cindy started attending romance groups, asking endless questions, as well as listening in on conferences whenever she could. She gathered as much information possible as well as networking with several people, some of whom have become longterm friends.

Cindy took an interest in self publishing, finding out that it was a lot more work than she initially thought. There were several parts that needed management, her being the only one to do them became overwhelming. “If it wasn’t for my family, I would’ve thrown in the towel!” Cindy exclaimed.

On September 25th, 2015, after many sleepless nights, painful edits, second guessing, and sheer panic, She excitedly self published her very first book entitled “The Compass” through Amazon. She managed to gather up enough money to have her book partially edited, as well as finding an AMAZING cover artist who had the book formatted.

“I have to tell you, when I hit the ‘publish’ button, I cried like a baby, because I was now, a published author.” Cindy excitedly expressed.

So here she is today with four published books. The Compass which was the first book to kick off her published books which included, The Divided Star Series. Shadow Walker, The Messenger, The Scholar and the fifth book The Oracle, which is close to being finished.

So what is Authoress Cindy Charity up to now?

Cindy: “When I’m not writing, I enjoy chilling with the family, taking in a show, and finding ways to embarrass my children (singing out loud in the car, dancing in the grocery store—those kinds of things!) I now live in the beautiful town of Kincardine, Ontario; right along the shores of Lake Huron. I must say that being a water sign (Pisces) I LOVE living so close to the water.”

“I still struggle with the imposter syndrome (something authors suffer from) and there are days when I pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming. Some days the words flow like water, and other days I am making deals with my muse to get my word count it. Featured Artist * Xavier Choice

Author-Award Winning Blogger FancyJLondon©2016 (All Right Reserved) This feature interview represents the recording artist/rapper-singer Xavier Choice.

Xavier Choice was born in Fort Worth, and raised in Houston Texas. Choice would frequently visit Fort Worth where his family resides. He started writing at the young age of 10 years old under his first emcee name, X-Man. His older brother, Jarian greatly inspired him by giving him a taste of rap when he would record himself rapping over Tupac beats. Choice was instantly hooked.

Interview by FancyJ London
FancyJ: “What or who inspired you to come out into the music world?”

Choice : “My older brother, Jarian, used to always spit verses over Tupac beats and I used to hear him do it all the time. I have always looked up to him, simply because he’s my older brother. But when I saw him rapping, it honestly changed my life. I knew then that, that was what I wanted to do with my life. Along with the inspiration that he provided, I was always in church. I was in the church choir, and I was always singing around the house. I was singing before I even started rapping. Most people don’t know that. I have a very musical family and it just runs in my veins.”

FancyJ: “Where do most of your lyrics come from?”

Choice : “Mostly life experiences. Every now and then, I’ll step out of the realm of reality and life experiences and get arrogant and tell everyone how I’m better than them. But, it mostly comes from being looked down upon as a teenager growing up. I was always bullied and no one thought that my music or what I was saying was anything worth listening to. I was the quintessential underdog. I hung out with my small circle of friends who were also considered “uncool” and “unpopular”. I use that as fuel to my fire to show everyone that I’m not to be looked past as just another emcee. I’m someone special.”

FancyJ: “Do you think music has the ability to influence the world for the better, or at least change the mentality of most people worldwide?”

Choice  : “Absolutely. 100%. Music, in my opinion, is the key to many solutions in life. It is one of, if not the most, influential thing in the universe. People’s moods can change in an instant depending on what song they are currently listening to. It can bring up many memories whether it is good or bad. In that same sense, it can easily inspire people to want to do better and challenge other people to do the same with them. The song, We Are The World, made many people want to do better with their lives and start giving.”

FancyJ: “If you were already at the top of billboard, had your Grammy, and star on Hollywood…what would you do first?”

Choice : “Nothing really, continue doing what I love and keep making music. Living my life to the fullest. Simple answer. But, all the accolades aren’t important to me.”

FancyJ: “Do you contribute to any charities, own a charity, or have dreams to start one?”

Choice : “I currently do not contribute to any charities but whenever I would have the funds to do so, I would have no problem giving money to those who are less fortunate.”

FancyJ: “How do you feel when you are singing in the studio, what keeps you pumped?

Choice : “Untouchable. I feel like whenever the mic is on, no one can hold a candle to me. May not be true, because it isn’t, but it’s the mentality that you have to have when being in the studio. Also, on the flipside of things, what keeps me pumped and gets me going, is knowing that it’s just me, the mic, and my words. My story that I have the pleasure of telling to the world. It’s a wonderful feeling.”

FancyJ: “What or who is your main inspiration in life?”

Choice : “The underdogs. Everybody who has been bullied in school and pushed aside by all of their peers. The ones who, instead of choosing to fight back using their fists, chose to use their minds and their drive to get back at the people who treated them wrong. Those are the people I do it for. The ones who have a story to tell and feel that they are worth more than what people say they are. The people who are unapologetic for being themselves.”

FancyJ: “Who is your biggest music influencer, why?”

Choice : “Well, my older brother, Jarian definitely gave me inspiration. But as far as influences? There are too many to count. Most recently, the person who I’ve been heavy on for the longest is J Cole. He has a style that I tend to gravitate more towards more. I love his delivery and the story that he tells. He’s unapologetic about the way he is, humble and honest. I’m the same way.”
FancyJ: “Do you play any instruments, don’t play? So, do you have a favorite?”

Choice : “I used to play trumpet back in middle school for a short time. My favorite is the saxophone. Honestly, because it’s so damn sexy! Really! Something about the sax just hits my soul right every time. It’s a really beautiful sound, and can be so powerful in conveying so many emotions.”

FancyJ: “What made you choose your stage name, or stick with your own?”

Choice : “Well my stage name is actually my last name. My full name is Xavier Choice. Before, I was Yung X. The whole yung thing is played out and I figured I wanted to be more marketable and sound more appealing to the masses. Plus, I got tired of hiding behind an alias. I felt like I could be myself more if I just used my name.”

FancyJ: “Can you explain the meaning behind the last song you produced, why was this song created?”

Choice : “The last song I wrote was a song entitled, Vibe With Me. It’s unreleased. It’s a feel good song that makes you want to just nod your head and chill out. That was the whole purpose of making the song. The whole point was to make people feel good and enjoy the feel good hip-hop.”

FancyJ: “If you had to asses your own music, what three things would you say you admire about it, and what three things would you critique?”

Choice : Three things that I admire about my own music would be…
1. I speak from my heart.

2. Never afraid to try anything different.

3. My words are clear and easy to decipher.

Three things that I would critique are…
1. Sometimes I have a tendency to take too deep of breaths on tracks.

2. When rapping fast I can get jumbled up and tongue-tied.

3. My singing could be a lot better at times and I could use more practice on it.
FancyJ: “Where do you see yourself in the music industry in five years?”

Choice : “Influential and inspirational to the people who have the mentality and background as I do. A leader to the uncool and unpopular kids.”

FancyJ: “What other occupation would you has chosen if you had not chosen music?”

Choice : “Working in the meat department at a grocery store. I’ve done grocery work all my life and I love customer service.”

FancyJ: “If you could be anyone in the world for one day, who would you choose, what would you do the entire day, and why would you choose that person?”

Choice : “I would choose to be any of the top hip-hop stars in the world today. J. Cole, Drake, Logic, etc.. I would just want to be in their shoes and see what it’s like to go through the day that they go through. The stresses of planning out interviews and deadlines to make and appearances. I’ve always been to attracted to the non glamorous side of the celebrity life.”

FancyJ: “How do you deal with rejection, haters, and gold diggers?”

Choice : “That’s just it, I don’t deal with it. My revenge is success. I’m going to keep doing me and if there’s anybody that has an issue with my methods or my life, they don’t have to be in my life.”
FancyJ: “What helps you remain grounded, focused, and determined with your career?”

Choice : “The people who tell me that they feel something when listening to my music. No bigger compliment can be said in the world than when someone tells me that my music spoke to them. Plus, I have a real passion for this. I’m a very humble person and I know that people don’t have to listen to me if they don’t want to. So I always thank the ones that truly love my music and want to know what I have to say.”

Featured Artist PÁLL ÓSKAR

FancyJ London ©2016 All Rights Reserved * This feature bio and all included contents, are the sole property of Páll Óskar aka Paul Oscar.

His name is Páll Óskar Pop Singer, Performer, Actor, with an amazing story that started in Reykjavík, Iceland and Ended up in New York City, now he has taken the world by storm leaving his mark as a pop star extraordinaire!
I am honored to feature such an inspiring, flamboyant, brilliant star that took his adversities and turned them into an unforgettable ballad. I am a huge fan of his work but more a fan of all he has overcome.

Paul Oscar’s family encouraged his musical talent, his parents did not get along with each other, and he was bullied by his schoolmates. Paul Oscar recalled: “My nickname was Little Palli, and Palli was chubby, nerdy, someone who never got jokes right, who was afraid of other men.” At age 13, he realized that he found men attractive, finally came out to his family at age 16.

“For the first day, there was nice talk of acceptance, though his father did raise his voice, but after a few days there was a disheartening silence. However, his mother was supportive. She said: “If Páll has the talent to fall in love, he should nurture that talent. Páll has as much a right to sit down at my table with his partner as anybody else and their partner.”

Paul Oscar rediscovered his voice at the age of 18, singing bass with the Hamrahlíð college choir for two years. In 1990 he won a talent contest for his college; later that year at the time of his graduation, he played Frank-N-Furter to great success in the college’s production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show Around the same time, he began appearing in Drag Shows at a notorious Reykjavík nightclub. After the club closed, he became a radio jockey on independent radio station FM 90.9 He also appeared in a film As in Heaven in 1992.

In the summer of 1993, Paul Oscar left Iceland for New York City where he met fellow Icelanders Jóhann Jóhannsson and Sigurjón Kjartansson who were then on tour with the heavy metal band HAM. Paul Oscar became their groupie and at about the same time released his first album Groove.

Paul Oscar made his debut as a solo artist and formed his own recording company, Paul Oscar Productions (P.O.P.) releasing an album of ballads entitled Palli which he personally arranged, performed and produced. It became the best selling album in Iceland of 1995. This was followed by his album Seif in 1996.

Paul Oscar was Iceland’s entrant in the annual Eurovision Song Contest in 1997. He performed the song My Final Dance, which he co-wrote, backed by four women dressed in latex playing suggestively on a sofa behind him.

Although the song only reached 20th place in a field of 25, the daring presentation attracted quite a lot of attention, especially amongst gay audiences, which made Paul Oscar from that point on known world wide.

Regarding his personal life, Paul Oscar has said: “I have a lot of work still to do. I have had three relationships that, from the outside, looked picture perfect, I suppose…But they were actually quite rotten and false, abusive to me. What I am doing now is learning to fall in love with myself.”

Featured Artist *Camaskassi

FancyJLondon©2016 All Rights Reserved. This feature bio interview is representing the skin portrait artist Camaskassi.

Camaskassi as a Warrior

FancyJ: “Hello Camaskassi it is such a pleasure for me to feature you. Could you tell me a little bit about the mystery behind Camaskassi?”

Camaskassi: “Thank you, I chose the name CAMASKASSI mixing MASK in the middle meaning almost covered. I have always enjoyed superheroes, villains, and wrestlers because they hide their identity making the mystery of their character exciting. If superheroes took their masks it would just lose the curiosity and magic. Since I can’t be a superhero, I decided to become an artist that creates superheroes for everyone who wants to remain mysterious including myself.”

FancyJ: “I noticed you chose a warrior for your personal insane portrait. Can you tell me why you didn’t choose a superhero?”

Camaskassi: “I feel like superheroes are more imaginary than realistic. Not that I have anything against superheroes, they are awesome and I happened to be a huge fan of Marvel Comics, DreamWorks, and several Anime films. I just think of myself as a fighter with honor, humility, and strength. I wanted to portray that into my choice of character.”

FancyJ: “You have an artistic name, but what is your slogan?”

Camaskassi: “Disguise yourself in a world of masquerades.”

FancyJ: “I like that, it makes a lot of sense. What inspired you to start making these fantasy style photo transformations?”

Camaskassi: “I actually made a portrait for a family member first because they wanted to hide their identity, then I realized that quite a lot of people feel that way especially with all those egg accounts on twitter. So, I started making artistic portraits thinking about how many people have boring plain looking profile photos, or just not using their photo at all!”

FancyJ: “Yes, that is quite true! Did you think that it would become as popular as it got to be?”
Camaskassi: “No, I never thought it would go this far at all! I liked creating insane portraits for random people, then one day… BANG!”

FancyJ: “So, when you say: “Bang”, does this mean you are receiving a lot of interest?

Camaskassi: “Incredibly yes, I couldn’t believe the response I got it was mind blowing, now I barely have time for myself, lol! On average I receive anywhere from 10-15 portrait requests a week, right now I am a bit behind with 50+ needing to be done in less than a month. It is literally insane, like my portraits.

(Prime) Transformer with full background

Beast
FancyJ: “What do people generally send you when they order?”

Camaskassi: “Actually people usually will send me a portrait and a googled photo saying they want to be this. That is the norm.”

FancyJ: “What is the funniest or weirdest request you have received?”

Camaskassi: “Actually there was a man that requested to be a mustache monkey, that cracked me up a bit!”

FancyJ: “What kind of requests do you regularly get?”

Camaskassi: “Things I think I can’t possibly do, then I try to do it and it doesn’t come out too bad! Honestly, people request some pretty crazy stuff. I rarely get any orders that are normal, but I guess that is why it is called insane portraits! I have had requests that I wonder what they are thinking at times, such as a flamingo, a hello kitty doll, a scarecrow gangster, a viking, a checkerboard, Barbosa from Pirates of the Caribbean, Root from Guardians of the Galaxy, and a request from a pet owner that was a little weird, but turned out pretty good!”

Scarecrow Gangster
Barbosa

Root
FancyJ: “When you said checkerboard I was trying to imagine that for a second. Those are a bit on the wild side! What are some requests that you basically would say, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN?!”

Camaskassi: “Probably a full nude photo, lots of blood/gore, or a huge group photo. Yes, that just wouldn’t be possible!”

FancyJ: “Has anyone of your customers requested too much?”

Camaskassi: “Yes, actually someone recently requested 6 insane portraits at once. I take customers as first come first serve, so it can get busy quickly for me. Overall people are pretty good about not asking for too many over the top details.
Harlequin
White Lion King

Shiny metal Scales
Wolverine

FancyJ: “Whoa, nice Wolverine! Do you find it hard to keep up, being that you are a one man show so to speak?”
Camaskassi: “At times I feel a bit overwhelmed, but when I finally see the finished portrait I feel better about it. It feels great when I get positive feed back as well, it keeps me pumped and willing to go further!”

FancyJ: “Have you had to deal with any critics?”

Camaskassi: “I think my worse critic is myself, I seek perfection, I can’t go further until I am happy with my portraits. I hope I never have to deal with criticism, but I guess I would try to see the view from another perspective.”

FancyJ: “If someone wants to transform their photo into something mysterious, how do they go about requesting one, and what are the costs involved?”

Camaskassi: “Anyone can send an order request to my direct email or to my manager, who receives payment on my behalf. Due to my busy schedule it has been hard to keep track. I require a clear photograph, no cut off body parts, not too close, and never blurry or pixelated. I generally charge $25. and up through PayPal, depends on details and if they request a full background. The biggest request is to be patient, it takes 10-15 days for me to work on just one, especially a skin portrait.”

Spiderman Skins

FancyJ: “Can you break down the categories for everyone? What is a skin exactly?”

Camaskassi:” Sure, I get that question a lot. Basically there are categories to make it easy for people to order a portrait. Skins are normally wild animals, reptiles, and sea creatures. You can also choose a skin of a favorite character and Jewels as well. When I skin a portrait I keep the person visible while adding fur, lines, scales, and other details. They still look like themselves, but also look like whatever character they chose to be…
(Here is a before and after to show what Camaskassi is referring to!)

Joker Skin

Heavy Skin Leopard and Light Skin Tiger

…I create light and heavy skins, the lighter one’s are to allow more of the person to be seen, the heavier one’s are to hide the person as much as possible, but still keeping the shape of their face, their eyes, and their mouth. Skin reptiles and tigers are the most requested portraits, but I have had a surprising amount of people asking for Pop Art and Rainbow Electricity DJ portraits.”

(Here are some examples of the portraits Camaskassi mentioned above.)

Pop Art

Rainbow DJ Electricity

FancyJ: “Wow, that is amazing, it must be extremely tedious work! I admire your dedication it probably isn’t as easy as it looks.”

Camaskassi: “Thank you, it can be hard at times, as well as time consuming, but the final result is worth every moment.”

FancyJ:” Is there anyone out there maybe a fan or customer you would like to shout out or thank before I let you go?”

Camaskassi: “There are a few people I would like to mention who have greatly supported me from the beginning. The first person would be KYNGSOLO, who I stole her portrait from and she seemed to forgive me. Lol! She was my first portrait and it inspired me to take a leap. Donjo who I designed a name logo, and spiderman for has been a great support. Jennie who has supported me on all my social sites and continues to show a lot of kindness. David aka PU is probably the craziest person out there, he shares my portraits everywhere and as I am working the notifications basically sound like a non stop ringer, thank you man. Big Thanks to the most supportive beautiful lady FancyJ London who has helped me believe in my potential and has done a great job a my manager, I highly recommend her. Lastly to my many fans that have made my head swell up pretty big, you guys are great!”-Camaskassi

KYNGSOLO as a Snake Skin
Logo or Name Designs

FancyJ: “I am blushing over here, thank you! I decided to back you, because what you artistically create needs to be noticed. It is a way for so many to break free from their shells, while being whoever they have always dreamed of being. It is unique, fun, and most of all mysterious. I am honored to be part of your journey.”

Featured Artist *Rayne Michael

FancyJLondon ©2016 (All Right Reserved)

This feature bio represents the recording artist, singer-songwriter, Rayne Michael.

                       🎶 It’s Rayning Michael…. Hallelujah!!! 🎶

This is what comes to my mind when I hear his name. I literally fell on Rayne Michael’s music one day, as I was sifting through some new music. I quickly became intrigued with his sensually soft almost angelic tone, incredible emotionally driven lyrics, and his powerfully surprising range!

The first song I heard Rayne Feature on was Titled STAR, by the utterly talented DJ Ross Tha Boss ( https://fancysfullspectrum.wordpress.com/2015/11/08/featured-artist-dj-ross-tha-boss/

I absolutely had to feature Rayne Michael! I got a hold of him on twitter, where I quickly learned he was just a day away from auditioning for The Voice. At that moment I knew that Rayne Michael was well on his was to stardom, and we were on our way to a great friendship. I present to you the one and only Rayne Michael….

Soulful singer Rayne Michael grew up listening to the music his parents listened to, first forming an interest through the sounds of Country & 80’s music played around the house. Soon finding an even greater pull towards the rhythms and grooves of Top 40, R&B, Pop, Rock & Soul genres, Rayne began to discover his own talents and establish a vibrant, permanent connection to music as he started to use his own voice.

After first approaching his new-found talents with trepidation – it would be his sister, Charity that would help him make that final breakthrough he was looking for. Encouraging him to truly embrace his voice and sing with full confidence and volume, Rayne Michael began to take hold of his vocal talent, his ability to connect with people emotionally through the music and genuine passion for singing. Rayne Michael started to pursue his dreams with everything he had.

His strong desire to entertain, sing and perform has led him to an inspiring, unique sound that brings a comforting and cohesive blend to his music. Continually challenging himself creatively, Rayne blends sounds of R&B with rock/pop edginess, keeping the music fresh, soulful, smooth and exciting through his vocals. Writing songs that come from within his soul, revealing the depth of his heart. Rayne is an endearing musician who authentically expresses himself in inspiring tones and creative music that leaves a beautifully memorable impact.

Rayne wanted to send out a special message to his fans, here it is.

Big Shout out to all my amazing supporters in my Rayne Michael Fam! Without any of you I wouldn’t be able to do what I love! I can’t go much further without giving a special thanks to Topher Williams of Topher Williams Studios….

….for helping make my dream a reality. I also need to thank my producer and mixer Jack MacArthur of JM Audio Production. He dedicated so much time and energy. I have big gratitude for both of these pros.

Also can’t forget all those who have stuck with me believing in my talent from the very beginning. Last but not least I want to Thank DJ ross tha Boss for the amazing Mix Stars, FancyJ London for this incredible Feature as well as FSM magazine.

Love all of you! -Rayne Michael

Featured Artist *DEV

FancyJ London ©2016 All Rights Reserved * This feature bio and all included contents, are the sole property of Devin Star Tailes aka Singer-Songwriter DEV.

Who knew that a simple girl working at Old Navy would turn out to be a sensational singer and an incredibly powerful influence to so many of us ladies? Her edgy look, sultry voice, thought provoking lyrics and love for cheetos is only the beginning of her incredible rise to fame!

Devin Star Tailes (born July 2, 1989), better known as Dev (sometimes stylized as DEV or dEV), is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. She was discovered by the record label, Indie-Pop, and The Cataracs via Myspace after her friend Shane Crislip, posted her singing to some beats. Dev’s song “Booty Bounce” was sampled in Far East Movement’s hit single “Like a G6” which reached number 1 in the US, and sold over four million downloads in the country.

In 2009 she made a cover of Amy Winehouse’ “Blonde Trick” and, after a friend posted the song into MySpace, the production team The Cataracs noticed it and contacted Dev. To Fashion Indie Magazine she said: “I decided to put up this song on MySpace. It was a “diss track” and I didn’t expect anything out of it. It was just to make me feel good like how music usually does, but Niles [of the Cataracs] came across my page and was really into my voice, they kind of got me into singing and opened up my eyes to business opportunities”. Dev dropped out of college in her first year to pursue her singing career and was then signed by the Los Angeles-based record label and management team, Indie-Pop, who also discovered The Cataracs. Six months later, Dev and The Cataracs’ song “2Nite” began to gain exposure on the radio, the television channel MtvU and the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart. In 2009, Dev moved to Los Angeles to produce music with the Cataracs and work directly with Indie-Pop.

In 2010, the Cataracs produced “Like a G6” with Far East Movement and decided to use a verse from Dev’s single “Booty Bounce” as the chorus. The two songs were made in the same summer, at the time where Dev and the Cataracs “were grinding it out in the studio pretty tough together,” making a couple of “simplistic random tracks. “Like a G6”, which features Far East Movement and Dev, was released in April 2010, and reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song went on to sell over four million downloads in the US. In August 2010, a music video was made for “Booty Bounce” directed by Ethan Lader, and uploaded it onto YouTube, where it has generated over sixteen million views.

In October 2010, Dev was signed to Universal Republic and her first official single, “Bass Down Low” was serviced to rhythmic radio stations in November. Dev released her debut single “Bass Down Low” in November 16, 2010. It was released digitally in select territories on December 6, 2010 and one day later in the United States. The song reached sixty one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number two on the Heatseekers Songs chart. In Canada, the song peaked at number thirty five in its fifth week on the Canadian Hot 100 chart. However, “Bass Down Low” saw massive success in the United Kingdom, where it peaked at number ten on the UK Singles Chart. Dev also released two more promotional singles through Twitter, “Poison” and “Call Me” both covers of Bell Biv Devoe and Blondie respectively. She also featured in house music artist David Guetta’s album, Nothing But the Beat on a song called “I Just Wanna F” with Timbaland and Afrojack.

Dev had also featured on a single by Swedish singer Eric Saade, “Hotter Than Fire” which was released on November 2, 2011 in Sweden. Dev is featured on a remix of Girls’ Generation’s song “Bad Girl” by The Cataracs, featured on their Japanese remix album and Dev was also featured in Timbaland’s promotional single “Break Ya Back”.

The American version of “The Night the Sun Came Up” was released on March 26, 2012 in the United States, which include new tracks where Dev teamed up with singer Enrique Iglesias on a track called “Naked” which was produced by The Cataracs and was released as the third single of the repackaged album. It reached the first position in Mexico and the second position in the US dance chart. The second single, “In the Dark”, peaked at number 11 in the US chart, making it her most successful solo single to date.

At the 2012 Lollapalooza, Dev revealed that she was currently working on her second album; “I’m using a lot more live instrumentation for this album”, stating “I had such a great time making a very electronic-based album for the first one, but you know, I’m just moving to different things, different sounds, so we’ll see.” Her track “Bass Down Low” was featured during match intervals of Volleyball, Beach Volleyball and Basketball among others during the 2012 Summer Olympics. In 2013 Universal Republic Records announced that they were going defunct, all artists from the label moved to Republic Records.

In November 1, she has posted on her official YouTube a new song, “Kiss It” featuring Sage the Gemini produced by Hit-Boy. While “Kiss It” released December 17, 2013. A remix version of this song was released that featured Casey Veggies in place of Sage The Gemini. Dev also collaborated with singer Mia Martina for her single Danse which gained popularity in latin and dance charts throughout spring 2014.

In 2014 Dev released two EPs, Bittersweet July and the second part as a follow up to part one. She’s a radio host of the popular radio Beats 1 by Apple, founded in 2015. In 2016 Dev started promoting her second studio album which is set to be released in mid 2016 with an opening single called Lowkey.

I personally have been a fan of Dev’s since she began in 2009 and continue to listen, buy, and enjoy her music! Thank you DEV for your voice, vibe and incredible talent! It has been a real pleasure featuring you! FJL
