I must say Author DL Gallie is a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered.

Feature Interview:

Fancy: DL Gallie can you tell us where you’re from?

DJ Gallie: I am from Queensland, Australia, but have visited many different places all over the world over the years. I currently reside in Gladstone.

Fancy: It must have been exciting getting to travel around a lot and experience knew cultures?

DJ Gallie: Yes, at times.

Fancy: So tell me, who stole your heart? Besides the love of writing ofcourse.

DL Gallie: My husband is my everything we have been together since the young age of sixteen, and although we tend to drive each other crazy at times, we couldn’t imagine our lives without one another.

Fancy: Who would you say encouraged you the most to explore writing?

DL Gallie: I would have to say undoubtedly my husband who encouraged me to start writing again after a brief hiatus.

Fancy: So did you just pick up a pen and go, so to speak or was it a slow journey?

DL Gallie: Well it was quite close actually, one day I just picked up a pen and started writing, and now the voices in my head won’t shut up.

Fancy: Wow, that sounds amazing, so that must mean you are not a victim of writer’s block, I would assume.

DL Gallie: Lol, Funny. Nothing a little bit of wine can’t fix.

Fancy: Ah, good to know next time I am in a bind for new lyrics. What other guilty pleasures do you care to share with us?

DL Gallie: Well I enjoy listening to music, drinking white wine in the summer, red wine in the winter, and beer all year round. Also I’ll never turn down a well made cocktail, especially a margarita. Which lead me to starting my Liquor Cabinet Series.

Fancy: I’ll drink some liquor to that! Before I let you go can you share your links with us so we can find your books online?

Katie Mettner – Author & Inspiration

This is the story of an incredibly talented woman who found her passion amidst trials and remained a beautiful person. I am proud to have had the chance to get to know her and I think you will feel the same after you get to know Katie and her love of Sugar.

Katie Mettner was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on June 14th, 1975 as the second child, but within a few years quickly became the middle child. She’s a mixture of English, German, and French Canadian, but pretty much only claims the French Canadian part. As a middle child, Katie learned patience at an early age. Her two favorite things were dolls and books, often times reading books to the dolls while playing pretend in the basement on the hot summer days. She cherished the time she spent with her dad walking or biking to and from the local library where they searched out new lands to visit. As she grew, she discovered her love for watching the NBC soaps. It was a running joke that she could write them, when she’d say the line or predict the plot twist before it happened. When she broke her leg in 1989 she had plenty of time to read, and discovered great authors like Mary Higgins Clark, and read every Harlequin romantic suspense written.

Writing was something Katie enjoyed doing in elementary school when her fourth grade teacher handed everyone a blank white journal and assigned a new journal entry every week. In sixth grade, her love for writing continued when she wrote, and performed, a newscast about Ireland. It’s fair to say her love of writing continued into her later years of schooling. While she loved to write, as Saturday’s child she knew she would work hard for a living, and after high school worked cleaning houses and running a daycare. After a move from central Wisconsin to Northern Wisconsin, she found a new love, her husband. With birthdays only a day apart, they were meant to be. They met at Thanksgiving 1999, engaged in January, married in April, and had their first baby the following February. In the blink of an eye she was the mom of three kids under three, and there wasn’t much time for writing between diaper changes and typing medical reports from home. Characters came and went through her mind during those years, but only one of them stayed with her, Sugar.

When Katie was thirty-five an old injury from the bunny hill where she first went skiing came back to haunt her. After years of walking with crutches, casts, braces, and then forced into a wheelchair, she had to make a change. Out of medical options, she made the decision and became a left below knee amputee in February 2011. It was then she found time to finally write Sugar’s story. Feeling ridiculous, she made sure no one else knew she was this into writing a book about an amputee dancer who lived on Lake Superior, and fell in love with an Irish guy. See any parallels? There were plenty, but she remembered they always said, write what you know, so she did. As winter turned to spring and summer she finished the first few drafts of the story, which weighed in at a hefty four hundred pages. She didn’t care what genre it was or if people would even like it, she had just found joy in writing it as she recovered and found a new way to walk.

Unsure what to even do with it once it was done, she did an internet search to see if there was somewhere she could get it printed and give a copy to some family members. When Google hit on KDP and indie publishing it was like a whole new world opened up. A world she didn’t understand in the least nor was sure she wanted to! She was so obtuse it never crossed her mind if she published it on the kindle platform more than just her family might read it!

That book, Sugar’s Dance, was seven years and thirty-two books ago. After Sugar found success with readers all over the world, and they wanted more, Katie thought it was wise to learn more about self-publishing and everything that goes with it from editing to covers to promoting. She joined a local author group where she was warmly welcomed, even though she was the only romance author, and learned a ton right off the bat from them. As the second and then the third Sugar book released, other characters began to speak to her. She’s now written thirty-two books in nine romance or romantic suspense series, several stand alone romances, and two LGBT romances. All of her characters are real people and most of them have a physical disability that puts them at a disadvantage to finding love, at least in their eyes. She has several more books planned for three of those series, but also has the first baby bird leaving the nest this summer for college, so she’s not thinking too far ahead.

“When I hit the publish button on Sugar’s Dance I had NO idea there would ever be a second book, much less a thirty second. I was so thrilled on Halloween day when Sugar came out because I felt like I’d finally gotten that one book out of me they told me I had. There was no greater feeling than having accomplished a feat I’d been thinking and dreaming about half my life. it was truly a high I still experience on every release day, but what makes me the happiest is seeing one of my books on the shelf in the library.”

What does you like to do when you aren’t writing?

Katie: “I’m pretty much always writing, if not on paper then in my head. During the times when I’m not writing it down, I’m usually lying in bed with insomnia. Kidding, of course. Actually, I’m an active band mom to my 3 E’s, Emily (Sax, piano, and voice), Edward (Bassoon), and Eli (Sax) and when I’m not running them to marching band and pep band, I’m usually at home listening to one of them practice! I enjoy crocheting sweaters for our pet leopard gecko, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, visiting our family in Duluth, Minnesota, crocheting, baking and of course, reading. As a Gemini I’m relaxed and easy going, and since I married another Gemini, our house is pretty chill. My dream would be to live on the shores of Lake Superior and stare out over the lake every day as I drink coffee and write more stories about the wonderful mysteries the lake holds.”

“Being an author is easy, but being a writer is the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. There is a difference after all. Being an author is about the face you show the world after you’ve published a book; smiling, happy, chatting about your muse, and basking in the sunshine of success. Being a writer is about the endless cups of coffees, deleted paragraphs, living in coffee stained pajamas, not combing your hair for a week, forgetting how to spell, wondering if that’s you who smells, eating frozen pizzas three nights a week, wondering why you suck so much, hating every word you write, certain no one will ever like this character who is so broken kind of profession. The two are intertwined, but distinct. More importantly, you can’t be an author without doing the hard work of being a writer first. I could give up being an author as long as no one ever forces me to stop being a writer.”

Featured Author *Cindy Charity

Author-Award Winning Blogger FancyJLondon©2016 (All Right Reserved)

This feature bio represents the author Cindy Charity all content belongs to Featured Stars on behalf of Cindy Charity. Author/Editor: FancyJ London

Featured Author Cindy Charity approached me on Facebook after I posted about an offer to feature one artist on my blog as a way to help them get noticed. Several people came forward surprisingly more that I initially thought. After reading several entries I fell upon her name in the comments and looked her up. I was intrigued by her writing style and the sincerity of her profile. She struck me with something I couldn’t quite explain but I knew she was the one I wanted to feature. I am extremely happy that I did!

Without further delay I introduce the very talented, hardworking, sassy, Pisces that is CINDY CHARITY…

Cindy Charity was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the third of six children. Cindy has always been a storyteller. Her mother Irish, and her father bi-racial (Black, Native Canadian, French Canadian as well) so it is of no surprise that her story telling came naturally. Growing up in a large family can be hard and at times one must find creative ways to get the attention deserved so, Cindy would tell stories and good stories at that. She would invent stories using situations, scenarios, or events around her.

Cindy began writing in her younger years her mother, as all mothers tend to do, saved everything! She rarely envisioned herself as becoming an author. Cindy had her mind set to be a lawyer. She ended up following in her mother’s footsteps, pursuing a career working with children where she earned her degree.

Several years later Cindy married and was blessed with children. When her eldest daughter was born, she and her family decided to move to a small town named Deep River, located in Ontario where her husband was raised. This is where Cindy Charity began to write. She wrote constantly. It was at that moment she knew in her gut she was going to be an author, but she decided not to share this epiphany with anyone, not just yet.

Cindy was a avid reader, she read everything she could get her hands. She soon discovered a new found love for Romance Novels. Her eldest sister would sneak Harlequin romance series to her and she was instantly hooked. Her tastes continuously changed over the years, but she remained intrigued with Contemporary as well as Paranormal Romance stories. She felt it showcased both sides of her intertwined personality.

Cindy Charity finally made the decision to become a serious a author, thinking it would be as simple as that to just declare that she was an author! Well, it wasn’t so easy. She continued to hide her secret, that way if she failed no one would know. Research became her next step towards her goal of becoming a published author.
It was within her grasp about a year after her secret declaration. She found a small press that was willing to take a chance on an unknown inspiring author. There was a lot of back and forth of information and then the dreaded contract. Unfortunately it didn’t work out, and Cindy was heavily devastated. She decided to take a break and go back to her childcare business concentrating on her family.

“Artists, yes!” she thought to herself: “I do see myself as an artist, you can only go so long before you feel the urge to create again, it consumes you.” Cindy took the plunge yet again and started to write. But this time, she wrote for her and not for the pursuit of publication. She had put the thought of seeing her books in print on the back burner, Cindy still kept her eye on the publishing world.

Cindy started attending romance groups, asking endless questions, as well as listening in on conferences whenever she could. She gathered as much information possible as well as networking with several people, some of whom have become longterm friends.

Cindy took an interest in self publishing, finding out that it was a lot more work than she initially thought. There were several parts that needed management, her being the only one to do them became overwhelming. “If it wasn’t for my family, I would’ve thrown in the towel!” Cindy exclaimed.

On September 25th, 2015, after many sleepless nights, painful edits, second guessing, and sheer panic, She excitedly self published her very first book entitled “The Compass” through Amazon. She managed to gather up enough money to have her book partially edited, as well as finding an AMAZING cover artist who had the book formatted.

“I have to tell you, when I hit the ‘publish’ button, I cried like a baby, because I was now, a published author.” Cindy excitedly expressed.

So here she is today with four published books. The Compass which was the first book to kick off her published books which included, The Divided Star Series. Shadow Walker, The Messenger, The Scholar and the fifth book The Oracle, which is close to being finished.

So what is Authoress Cindy Charity up to now?

Cindy: “When I’m not writing, I enjoy chilling with the family, taking in a show, and finding ways to embarrass my children (singing out loud in the car, dancing in the grocery store—those kinds of things!) I now live in the beautiful town of Kincardine, Ontario; right along the shores of Lake Huron. I must say that being a water sign (Pisces) I LOVE living so close to the water.”

“I still struggle with the imposter syndrome (something authors suffer from) and there are days when I pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming. Some days the words flow like water, and other days I am making deals with my muse to get my word count it. I may not be the best writer there is, in fact I know that I’m not, but I am indeed an author, that is something that I am most proud of.”

“I am pretty active on social media, pop on over sometime and say: HI!” -Cindy Charity

Featured Artist *Camaskassi

FancyJLondon©2016 All Rights Reserved. This feature bio interview is representing the skin portrait artist Camaskassi.

Camaskassi as a Warrior

FancyJ: “Hello Camaskassi it is such a pleasure for me to feature you. Could you tell me a little bit about the mystery behind Camaskassi?”

Camaskassi: “Thank you, I chose the name CAMASKASSI mixing MASK in the middle meaning almost covered. I have always enjoyed superheroes, villains, and wrestlers because they hide their identity making the mystery of their character exciting. If superheroes took their masks it would just lose the curiosity and magic. Since I can’t be a superhero, I decided to become an artist that creates superheroes for everyone who wants to remain mysterious including myself.”

FancyJ: “I noticed you chose a warrior for your personal insane portrait. Can you tell me why you didn’t choose a superhero?”

Camaskassi: “I feel like superheroes are more imaginary than realistic. Not that I have anything against superheroes, they are awesome and I happened to be a huge fan of Marvel Comics, DreamWorks, and several Anime films. I just think of myself as a fighter with honor, humility, and strength. I wanted to portray that into my choice of character.”

FancyJ: “You have an artistic name, but what is your slogan?”

Camaskassi: “Disguise yourself in a world of masquerades.”

FancyJ: “I like that, it makes a lot of sense. What inspired you to start making these fantasy style photo transformations?”

Camaskassi: “I actually made a portrait for a family member first because they wanted to hide their identity, then I realized that quite a lot of people feel that way especially with all those egg accounts on twitter. So, I started making artistic portraits thinking about how many people have boring plain looking profile photos, or just not using their photo at all!”

FancyJ: “Yes, that is quite true! Did you think that it would become as popular as it got to be?”
Camaskassi: “No, I never thought it would go this far at all! I liked creating insane portraits for random people, then one day… BANG!”

FancyJ: “So, when you say: “Bang”, does this mean you are receiving a lot of interest?

Camaskassi: “Incredibly yes, I couldn’t believe the response I got it was mind blowing, now I barely have time for myself, lol! On average I receive anywhere from 10-15 portrait requests a week, right now I am a bit behind with 50+ needing to be done in less than a month. It is literally insane, like my portraits.

Beast
FancyJ: “What do people generally send you when they order?”

Camaskassi: “Actually people usually will send me a portrait and a googled photo saying they want to be this. That is the norm.”

FancyJ: “What is the funniest or weirdest request you have received?”

Camaskassi: “Actually there was a man that requested to be a mustache monkey, that cracked me up a bit!”

FancyJ: “What kind of requests do you regularly get?”

Camaskassi: “Things I think I can’t possibly do, then I try to do it and it doesn’t come out too bad! Honestly, people request some pretty crazy stuff. I rarely get any orders that are normal, but I guess that is why it is called insane portraits! I have had requests that I wonder what they are thinking at times, such as a flamingo, a hello kitty doll, a scarecrow gangster, a viking, a checkerboard, Barbosa from Pirates of the Caribbean, Root from Guardians of the Galaxy, and a request from a pet owner that was a little weird, but turned out pretty good!”

Scarecrow Gangster
Barbosa

Root
FancyJ: “When you said checkerboard I was trying to imagine that for a second. Those are a bit on the wild side! What are some requests that you basically would say, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN?!”

Camaskassi: “Probably a full nude photo, lots of blood/gore, or a huge group photo. Yes, that just wouldn’t be possible!”

FancyJ: “Has anyone of your customers requested too much?”

Camaskassi: “Yes, actually someone recently requested 6 insane portraits at once. I take customers as first come first serve, so it can get busy quickly for me. Overall people are pretty good about not asking for too many over the top details.
Harlequin
White Lion King

Shiny metal Scales
Wolverine

FancyJ: “Whoa, nice Wolverine! Do you find it hard to keep up, being that you are a one man show so to speak?”
Camaskassi: “At times I feel a bit overwhelmed, but when I finally see the finished portrait I feel better about it. It feels great when I get positive feed back as well, it keeps me pumped and willing to go further!”

FancyJ: “Have you had to deal with any critics?”

Camaskassi: “I think my worse critic is myself, I seek perfection, I can’t go further until I am happy with my portraits. I hope I never have to deal with criticism, but I guess I would try to see the view from another perspective.”

FancyJ: “If someone wants to transform their photo into something mysterious, how do they go about requesting one, and what are the costs involved?”

Camaskassi: “Anyone can send an order request to my direct email or to my manager, who receives payment on my behalf. Due to my busy schedule it has been hard to keep track. I require a clear photograph, no cut off body parts, not too close, and never blurry or pixelated. I generally charge $25. and up through PayPal, depends on details and if they request a full background. The biggest request is to be patient, it takes 10-15 days for me to work on just one, especially a skin portrait.”

Spiderman Skins

FancyJ: “Can you break down the categories for everyone? What is a skin exactly?”

Camaskassi:” Sure, I get that question a lot. Basically there are categories to make it easy for people to order a portrait. Skins are normally wild animals, reptiles, and sea creatures. You can also choose a skin of a favorite character and Jewels as well. When I skin a portrait I keep the person visible while adding fur, lines, scales, and other details. They still look like themselves, but also look like whatever character they chose to be…
(Here is a before and after to show what Camaskassi is referring to!)

Joker Skin

Heavy Skin Leopard and Light Skin Tiger

…I create light and heavy skins, the lighter one’s are to allow more of the person to be seen, the heavier one’s are to hide the person as much as possible, but still keeping the shape of their face, their eyes, and their mouth. Skin reptiles and tigers are the most requested portraits, but I have had a surprising amount of people asking for Pop Art and Rainbow Electricity DJ portraits.”

(Here are some examples of the portraits Camaskassi mentioned above.)

Pop Art

Rainbow DJ Electricity

FancyJ: “Wow, that is amazing, it must be extremely tedious work! I admire your dedication it probably isn’t as easy as it looks.”

Camaskassi: “Thank you, it can be hard at times, as well as time consuming, but the final result is worth every moment.”

FancyJ:” Is there anyone out there maybe a fan or customer you would like to shout out or thank before I let you go?”

Camaskassi: “There are a few people I would like to mention who have greatly supported me from the beginning. The first person would be KYNGSOLO, who I stole her portrait from and she seemed to forgive me. Lol! She was my first portrait and it inspired me to take a leap. Donjo who I designed a name logo, and spiderman for has been a great support. Jennie who has supported me on all my social sites and continues to show a lot of kindness. David aka PU is probably the craziest person out there, he shares my portraits everywhere and as I am working the notifications basically sound like a non stop ringer, thank you man. Big Thanks to the most supportive beautiful lady FancyJ London who has helped me believe in my potential and has done a great job a my manager, I highly recommend her. Lastly to my many fans that have made my head swell up pretty big, you guys are great!”-Camaskassi

KYNGSOLO as a Snake Skin
Logo or Name Designs

FancyJ: “I am blushing over here, thank you! I decided to back you, because what you artistically create needs to be noticed. It is a way for so many to break free from their shells, while being whoever they have always dreamed of being. It is unique, fun, and most of all mysterious. I am honored to be part of your journey.”
